Janani Suraksha Yojana (Central)

Description : The scheme provides cash assistance and healthcare assistance to pregnant women of poor households to promote institutional delivery. Cash assistance is separate for pregnant women and the health activist assisting them. Cash assistance is different for Low Performing States and High Performing States.Eligibility : Low Performing States (LPS) :Uttar Pradesh,Uttaranchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Rajasthan, Orissa and Jammu and Kashmir. While remaining states have been named as High Performing states (HPS) Eligibility : (i)LPS beneficiaries include all pregnant women delivering in Government health centres like Sub-centre, PHC/CHC/ FRU / general wards of District and state Hospitals or accredited private institutions (ii)HPS beneficiaries include All BPL/Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) women delivering in a government health centre, such as SC/PHC/CHC/FRU/general wards of district and state hospital or accredited private institutionsProcess : 1. The ASHA workers will identify poor pregnant women and register them under this scheme. a) Assist the pregnant woman to obtain necessary certifications wherever necessary. b) Help the woman in receiving at least 3 antenatal care checkups. c) Identify a functional government health centre for referral and delivery. d) Help the beneficiary woman get to the pre-determined health center and stay with her till the woman is discharged. 2. Each beneficiary registered under this Yojana should have a JSY card along with a MCH card. ASHA/Anganwadi workers/ other identified link worker will help in monitoring Antenatal Check-up, and the post delivery care. 3. Disbursement of cash to the mother including compensation amount for sterilization wherever applicable is done through the ANM/ASHA at the time of discharge from the hospital/health centre in one installment. NOTE: (i)All pregnant women delivering in Government health centres like Sub-centre, PHC/CHC/ FRU / general wards of District and state Hospitals۔ Accredited private institution are eligible and in High Performing States, BPL pregnant women, aged 19 years and above are eligible. It can be your first or second delivery. (ii) Low Performing States (LPS) :Uttar Pradesh,Uttaranchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Rajasthan, Orissa and Jammu and Kashmir.
