Description : The scheme is envisaged to provide insurance cover to the children of Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) policyholders. In certain cases, the benefit is also provided to parents/guardians.Eligibility : 1. Only people within rural areas (Rural area is defined as one being outside the limits of a municipality.) 2. The main policy holder (parent) should not have attained the age of 45 years 3. Minimum and maximum age of the child should be between 5-20 years 4.Maximum 2 children per family are eligible.Process : For offline application:
- Applicant needs to visit the closest post office and apply for the scheme by submitting the required forms and documents.
- Collect the acceptance letter if your application is approved as intimated by the post office official.
- Collect the policy bond (most important document) as directed by the post office official.
- Premium can be paid in cash or cheque whenever it is due in any post office across India without transferring the policy from one circle to another.
- Claim cheque will be sent to the customer’s address on or before the due date of maturity.
For Online application
- Visit PLI website (link in reference) and click Purchase a Policy.
- Fill the required details and pay the first premium amount. A proposal will be generated.
- Take the printout of the proposal along with the required documents and submit them in your nearest Post Office.
*No medical examination of child necessary. However, child should be healthy and risk shall start from day of acceptance of proposal.

**Keep a note from the Policy Bond:
- the date of commencement of the policy, due date and mode of payment of premium ( i.e. yearly, half-yearly, quarterly, monthly etc).Benefit : Maximum sum assured ₹ 100000 or equal to the sum assured of the parent, whichever is less.
