Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana (PM Vishwakarma Yojana) is a new central sector scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2023, on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti. The objective of the scheme is to further the practice of guru-shishya parampara or family-based traditional techniques and to strengthen and nurture the artisans by their work with their hands and tools. This will bring about a qualitative change in the work of the artisans and it will improve their socio-economic status, as well as improve their quality of life.

Purpose:

1. Recognition of artisans and craftsmen Vishwakarma, under this scheme, they are eligible to get all the benefits.
2. Relevant and appropriate training opportunities have been made available to them to enhance their skills and provide skill improvement.
3. To provide support for advanced and modern equipment, to help in enhancing the capacity, productivity and quality of the artisans.
4. The beneficiaries will get easy loans.
5. To provide incentives for digital transactions and encourage Vishwakarma digital empowerment.
6. Promoting brands and providing a platform for the market is to help them make available new opportunities for growth.

Eligibility:

1. A craftsman who is working on artisanal hands and tools and engaged in family-based traditional businesses is specified in the unorganized or informal One can register under PM Vishwakarma on the basis of self-employment.
2. The minimum age of the beneficiary should be 18 years on the date of registration.
3. The beneficiary should be engaged in the transaction and there should be no loan from the Central Government or State Government schemes on him/ her. The beneficiaries who have fully repaid the Mudra and SVANidhi scheme loans are eligible for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. This period of 5 years will be calculated from the date of sanction of the loan.
4. Registration and benefits under the scheme are limited to one member of the family only. A ‘family’ under the scheme is defined as follows: husband, wife and unmarried children to avail benefits.
5. Persons in government service and their family members will not be eligible under this scheme.
