Description : To generate solar power by installing solar panels on the roof of the houses, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India has implemented PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Under this scheme Ministry is providing subsidy per kW which is capped at Rs. 78000 for 3 kW of solar plant per household The scheme is being implemented in the states by local Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOMs).Eligibility : 1. Must be more than 18 years old. 2. Any citizen of India can apply for this scheme. 3. Only residential establishments can avail subsidy
4. House should be owned by the applicant and electricity bill should be generated in his name. 5. Tenants can also avail the scheme provided they have electricity connection in their name and permission from the owner to use roof to install rooftop solarProcess : Online Process - 1- The applicant can register at the national portal and fill the form. 2- The local DISCOM will do the feasibility inspection and reject or accept the application. 3- After successful inspection the application can install the solar module. 4- Applicant will submit the project completion report for final inspection. 5- In the last stage the subsidy will be transferred to the applicant’s account.Benefit : Subsidy is capped at Rs. 78000 for 3 kW of solar plant per household
