Description : The work demand under MGNREGS is a provision which can be accessed by all those who are MGNREGA job card holders. This provision allows a card holder to demand job which has to be provided within 15 days of work demand raised. If the concerned authority is unable to provide work within 15 days, the worker is bound to receive an unemployment allowance which is 25% of the minimum wages for the first 30 days and 50% of the minimum wages for the remaining allowance period.Eligibility : 1. Must be 18 years of ageProcess : 1.Applicant needs to approach their Gram Panchayat and submit an application on plain paper or (if available) in a form, stating the willingness to work OR The applicant can also request their work demand be recorded through an oral application 2.The Gram Panchayat then verifies the application on the basis of: (i) Local domicile (ii) If all household members applying for registration are adults 3.Based on this the Gram Panchayat issues a Job Card to the household as a whole. This should normally be within 15 days of registration of application. 4.Each Job Card will bear a unique registration number for a household. One can approach the Gram Panchayat and demand work with this Job Card. *Job card will be given only to the family whose name it is issued in. *At times in absence of immediate photo facility, according to the State government’s order the photo can be stuck later on (do not delay this by more than 1 month). If you want to make any changes in Job card’s photo, name or other information inform immediately. *Applicant’s photo has to be on the Job card. *A job card is valid for 5 years and joining or deleting the name from Job card is allowed.Benefit : Per day wage upto 100 days of employment will be provided under MGNREGA
