The Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik, had announced the launch of “Mo Ghar” on 29 May 2023 to provide loan-linked financial assistance to the beneficiaries facing fund crunch to complete or upgrade their homes. This is a significant relief for the economically and socially weaker families. The new ‘Mo Ghar’ scheme is one of the 18 proposals approved by the Odisha Cabinet on Monday. All families who have been left out of the previous housing scheme due to stringent eligibility requirements or adequate funds will benefit from the scheme. It will also benefit those who had earlier received a small amount of housing assistance and now want to upgrade or expand their homes.

Who can not participate in the scheme:

1. Families living in pucca houses with two or more rooms and RCC roofs.
2. In the past, a family used to get housing assistance of at least Rs. 70,000 through the Rural Housing Programme.
3. If the family’s monthly income is Rs. 25,000 or more.
4. Owner of motorised four wheelers for personal use.
5. A family where any member is a regular government employee or a public utility employee who gets a monthly pension for the time they have worked for them.
6. There are at least 15 acres of unirrigated land or at least 5 acres of irrigated land.
