PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced the ground-breaking ‘PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.’" This ambitious project, which would require a substantial investment of more than Rs 75,000 crore, intends to provide up to 300 units of free electricity per month, produced by solar power, to one crore (10 million) families across the country.   1. Those who benefit from the program will get money directly in their bank accounts. They will also have the opportunity to take low-interest bank loans, so they won’t have to worry about paying a lot of money themselves.
  2. Everyone involved, like customers, urban local bodies, and banks, will work together through a National Online Portal. This makes it easier to apply for things and get them done.
  3. To make more people aware of the plan in local areas, city councils and local village councils will get rewards for promoting the use of rooftop solar systems in their areas.
  4. Besides making electricity bills lower, the plan is also supposed to create jobs, give chances to earn money, and help decrease the pollution in the air. Eligibility for of PM Surya Ghar scheme
  5. Family income per year should not exceed Rs 1.5 lakhs.
  6. The applicant did not come from a family with a government worker.

How to apply?

  1. Sign up on the website ((Link: https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in/))
  2. Choose your state and electricity provider
  3. Provide your electricity consumer number, mobile number, and email
  4. Log in using your consumer number and mobile number
  5. Fill out the form to apply for rooftop solar
  6. Upon receiving the approval for feasibility, coordinate for any registered vendor in your DISCOM to install the rooftop solar plant.
  7. After the solar panels are installed, share the information about the system, and apply for a net meter
  8. After the net meter’s installation and DISCOM’s inspection The portal will generate the commissioning certificate
  9. After the commissioning report is received. Submit a cancelled cheque and the bank account details using the online portal. Within 30 days, your bank account will be credited with your subsidy.
