Mahila Samman Saving Certificate Scheme

The Mahila Samman Sanchay Certificate Scheme has emerged as a remarkable initiative launched by the Central Government on February 1, 2023 with an aim to promote the financial empowerment of women. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched this transformational scheme, commonly known as the MSSC scheme, as part of Budget 2023 on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The two-year plan, which aims at the economic upliftment of women, has a maximum deposit limit of Rs 2 lakh and will be available till March 2025.

Benefits of the scheme:

The Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme offers a number of benefits, each contributing to the larger goal of financial empowerment of women:

  1. To create financial security for women, thereby increasing their financial stability.
  2. Encourages women to make independent financial decisions through dedicated savings schemes.
  3. Provides an attractive interest rate of 7.5%, which facilitates growth on deposit funds.
  4. Provides the facility of withdrawing a portion of the money deposited as and when required.
  5. The maximum deposit limit is up to Rs 2 lakh and the deposit period has been fixed at 2 years.

Eligibility Criteria: The eligibility criteria for the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme have been prepared to be included and available to various women:

  1. Any woman or girl, a citizen of India, can participate in the scheme.
  2. Women above the age of 18 years are eligible for the Mahila Samman Sanchay Certificate Scheme.
  3. There is no upper age limit so that the scheme is available to women of all ages.

The following documents are necessary for admission to the Mahila Samman Sanchay Certificate Scheme:

  1. Aadhaar Card
  2. Two passport size photographs
  3. Income Certificate
  4. Active Mobile Number
  5. Post Office or Bank Account Book

Procedure for opening women’s honor savings certificate scheme account in post office:

  1. Download the ‘Application for Purchasing Certificates’ form from the official Indian Post website. You can also go to the nearest post office branch and get the form.
  2. Fill up the post office address under the ‘To the Postmaster’ section.
  3. Fill in your name in the given space and mention the account as ‘Mahila Samman Savings Certificate’.
  4. Fill in account type, payments and personal details.
  5. Fill in the declaration and nomination details.
  6. Submit the form along with the required documents.
  7. Deposit it at the post office through cash or cheque.
  8. Obtain a certificate acting as a proof of investment in the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme.

  4. Submit the form along with the required documents to the branch office of the bank.
  5. Deposit the scheme opening account with the bank officials.
  6. Obtain a certificate acting as proof of investment in the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme.
